Another Christmas and New Year Away from Home

I have been here in Busuanga for more than a month. So far it has been all good but one can't help to be lonely sometimes especially at night when there's no electricity. right now as i am writing this blog we only have power during nighttime and during the day we utilize generator power. I'm able to write my blog again since Emman bought a unltd smartbro. It means that i'm able to log in anytime.

I spend the last christmas and new year here in the island paradise of Busuanga. i think its been five years that i spend either christmas or new year away from iloilo. we spend the christmas in Coron. We just had a modest dinner and went to the plaza for a stroll after dinner. The town plaza was full of lights and there is a huge christmas tree in the center. We then proceeded to Kawayanan grill and wait for the clock to strike 12am there. We had beer and peanuts as our noche buena. I spend xmas with Sir Pat, mario, emman and rex along with our guest Tonet and Daniel Pugeda, they're a couple who missed their flight due to a series of unfortunate events.

We were preparing to go to Coron already and the last flight has already took off for Manila when Tonet and Danny showed up at the tower asking if there is another flight coming out of Busuanga. There they told us about their experience that they got stranded in Waling Waling resort when there boat broke down, When they got to Coron they hired a motorcycle to bring them to the airport but they weren't able to get far when the motorcycle bust a tire. Then they hired a van to take them but they have to wait again for 15 min when the van also broke down. So, instead of them staying at the tower and since we were going to Coron. We took them with us and helped them find a place to stay where we always stay also when we are stranded in Coron. The place is called Coron Reef and you could contact their caretaker Ate Lani (09294649791) for reservations. They also accept reservations for island hopping tours. We went ahead for dinner but they also joined us in Kawayanan to wait for the christmas.

It was not a grand noche buena but what is important is the spirit is there. it is nice to spend christmas and new year at home but i guess i'm one of the few that spends xmas away and i think i spend my xmas in a different place everytime.

I spend my new year the same way i spent my xmas. The only difference is that we stayed here at the airport and didnt went down to Coron. We didnt have anything to cook so we just raided Maricel, Ate Nening's and Ate Eden's houses for the New Year. Emman, Marlon, Jojo and I are the ones left here. the only thing we used to welcome the new year is the siren on top of the tower. It was more than enough to drive away bad spirits if there is one here.

As year 2009 ends and 2010 begins, so is our life here in Busuanga. There would be more time to lounge around than work but when it comes to work we only have one thing in mind. your safety.. have a happy new year from the ATCs of Busuanga
